I attended CHIJ Katong Convent for 10 years through primary and secondary school so I was thrilled when Moni showed me this site that sells custom-made IJ earrings.

Those memories of the school, of friendships forged, of when we were fifteen, it still brings a smile.

I love sussing out rings, online and in brick and mortar shops. Right now, I am really liking simple, delicate and none too fancy rings that can be stacked or just worn on its own. These ones from St. Kilda a shop in Brooklyn NY are especially pretty!

I love reading A Cup of Jo. Today, I was clicking on a couple of links and found her entry on wedding favours. Joanna and her husband Alex gave away incredible heart holographic glasses! When you put them on, all points of light turn into hearts. Now that literally is, seeing things in a new light!

This Zoku popsicle maker is right on top of my wish list and is THE single, coolest invention ever (pun intended)! Just imagine, you can have a popsicle whenever you feel like it. The maker also allows you to create a gadzillion combinations like orange and yogurt, cranberry + grape etc etc

P/S It is also affordable at USD 49.95 but it only ships to the US for now.

Love in the everyday February 10, 2010

Have you seen the trailers for the film Valentine’s day? Patrick Dempsey is looking mighty fine indeed.

As valentine’s day draws near, it’s been hearts all over my favourite blogs. Which makes me happy and warm inside, because I believe in love, which is the greatest of all. But I must admit that I don’t subscribe to the over-commercialisation of the holiday (case in point: the Dempsey movie). For me, love is also in the everyday. Big gestures and special occasions always puts me on a joyful high. However, it’s extra meaningful when love manifests in little, small everyday gestures outside of the holiday. Because, that’s when you know it’s real.

And speaking of gestures, check out this incredibly hopeful story of how one guy went out of his way to find a girl. I thought it was wonderful how he just knows he has to meet her again and plastered his email on a wall at a public subway station. Now, love takes courage!

And here’re a few pictures that captures the holiday beautifully for me:

I love the quirky gift ideas from somethingshidinghere:

This one’s the sweetest:

And finally, one of my all-time favourite quotes from Love Actually:

“Whenever I get gloomy with the state of the world, I think about the arrivals gate at Heathrow Airport. General opinion’s starting to make out that we live in a world of hatred and greed, but I don’t see that. It seems to me that love is everywhere. Often, it’s not particularly dignified or newsworthy, but it’s always there – fathers and sons, mothers and daughters, husbands and wives, boyfriends, girlfriends, old friends. When the planes hit the Twin Towers, as far as I know, none of the phone calls from the people on board were messages of hate or revenge – they were all messages of love. If you look for it, I’ve got a sneaking suspicion… love actually is all around.”

Happy Valentine’s darlings 🙂

xo,

Now these notecards from Notebookdoodles take my breath away! I fell in love with the site at first sight (accidental pun). First, I heart the exquisite and intricate font which adds to the character of the cards. Best of all, they contain ‘lil gems of wisdom:

I say, precious reminders have never come so pretty 🙂

Favourite shade of blue January 31, 2010

My personal colour palette comprises primarily of various hues of black, brown and grey. It makes my mother frown every chinese new year but I make plenty of exceptions, especially for shades of blue + green and the magical combination of both i.e.; turquoise which is incidentally, Pantone’s colour of 2010 and my favourite shade of blue.

Mmm, how about turquoise painted toe-nails?

And this feel-good poster makes me smile.

Window-shopping online keeps both my peepers open in class.

I am in a rings phase and I like how the rings by catbird are beautifully understated and delicate. It’s not really “me” because I have a soft spot for slightly grungier accessories but still, it made me gasp in awe.
